FDG BioM Multidose Injection (¹⁸F-Fluorodeoxyglucose)

BioM first product is ¹⁸F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (¹⁸F-FDG), also known as ¹⁸F-Fludeoxygluose. It is marketed as FDG IBA® Multidose Injection in Malaysia. ¹⁸F-Fluorodeoxyglucose is a positron emitting radiopharmaceuticals used in PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging. Chemically, it is a glucose analogue with a positron-emitting radioactive isotope, Fluorine-18 (¹⁸F). ¹⁸F-Fluorodeoxyglucose accumulates in all cells using glucose as primary energy source. After administration, it is widely distributed throughout the body in healthy subjects, particularly in the brain and heart, and to a lesser degree in the lungs and liver.

NaF BioM Injection (Sodium Fluoride ¹⁸F)

Sodium Fluoride ¹⁸F Injection (¹⁸F-NaF) is a positron emitting radiopharmaceutical used for diagnostic purposes in conjunction with positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. It contains no-carrier added, radioactive Fluorine ¹⁸F. Sodium Fluoride ¹⁸F has the molecular formula of Na¹⁸F with chemical structure, i.e. Na+ ¹⁸F-. After intravenous injection, Fluorine ¹⁸F from Sodium Fluoride ¹⁸F is highly extracted by the bone from the blood stream and the remaining Fluorine ¹⁸F is rapidly excreted in the urine due to the lack of affinity to serum proteins.
